Snow Day!

Last week we were supposed to have an ice day, but nothing happened aside from some cold rain, but school was already canceled, so we had a fun day on Monday. We sure got hit this weekend! The prediction was 1-3 inches. By 10 PM we’d easily had about 5 inches. The kids loved it! They were in and out all day. I even caught Harvey outside playing in the snow with no shoes or socks on! His little feet were very red. I don’t know why he thought that was a good idea. I spent most of the day cozy inside. I baked, did laundry and listened to my book, etc.

I got to attend the temple on Tuesday with a friend of mine. Of course, as it goes, getting to the temple always comes with its obstacles. Daisy snuck out the second the door opened for the kids to go to school. I spent 25 minutes hunting her down in 19 degree weather, which made me running about 10 minutes later than I’d planned. Luckily, I made it to the temple without a hitch (except I’d forgotten my wallet, fortunately, I leave my temple recommend in my temple bag, so getting in was no problem). The temple was peaceful as always and then I got to go see my friend’s new house that she’s fixing up as a Temple Airbnb. A lot of members travel long distances to serve in the temple. I love her idea and I think it’s coming along very nicely!

Maverick came home Tuesday with a fever, which meant he wasn’t going to school the next day. Of course, Beverly said she wasn’t feeling well either and with one kid sick, it is always likely more are sick, so she stayed home Wednesday too and then Harvey joined them Thursday, so between the fake snow day and sick days, my kids were home every day but Tuesday and Friday. Which happened last week too… so as much as I love them, I’m a little “mommed” out. Even our dog was acting unwell, so I had to take her to the vet this week too. Turns out it could just be old age.

Friday morning, Beverly had her “student of the month” breakfast. I’m so proud of her. She loves and thrives in school. It’s a good thing since she has seemed to get sick a lot this school year. I also had my volunteer resource committee meeting on Wednesday. We helped revamp the middle school’s library a month ago and it looks really good! We’ve also made some serious headway on sifting through their collection: getting rid of old, outdated books, and labeling books by appropriate age/content. I’ve really enjoyed being a part of this committee and I think it is very valuable to our community.

I hope yall have a wonderful, warm, healthy week, because that’s what I’m hoping for! School is already canceled tomorrow… so I really hope my kids are healthy for the rest of the week so I can have a few days to catch up on things without them underfoot.
