Halloween was a blast. The majority of us went with the Durrants (as normal). We had a good time walking the neighborhood with them. Last year, we couldn’t keep up with the boys. This year, we couldn’t keep up with those two little girls! Harvey got a bucket full of candy and said, “I’m done. I have enough.” They all have more than enough. It always surprises me when teens dump people’s entire bowls into their bags. One of my friends caught some kids on her ring camera doing just that. We all commented that 1) it ruins all the other kids halloweens and 2) what on earth are they going to do with all that candy?? I’m not sure if some teenager did that to our bowl, but I have my suspicions because it was empty and there was bits of candy on the ground around it… makes me sad. I just hope I’ve raised my own kids well enough that if they go off on their own they would never even think to do this.
Aside from obnoxious teenagers, some negligent ward member who broke my instant pot at trunk-or-treat, and someone trying to volunteer me for Hurricane clean up babysitting without asking me first, it was a pretty good week. I was still feeling totally zapped of energy up until yesterday. I woke up feeling more rested than I had in over two weeks and I got to work. I cleaned my house from 9-4:30 and then again from 8:30-10:40. I still need to finish bathrooms, but I got laundry folded, the entire house vacuumed and mopped, deep cleaned Mav’s room (again), put away Halloween, etc. It felt really nice to finally catch up a bit.
Sports is coming to a close. I think Mav has a few more games (playoffs) and Andy has probably one more playoff game, but Maverick won’t be going. Though he got his cast removed on Thursday, he still can’t do sports for another two weeks. It is pretty tender. He was bummed to miss out of most of the season, but he had a good attitude.
Max’s team started off rough. A lot of the players had never played before and a lot of them lacked any motivation to come to practices or get involved in tackles on the field, but the last game I went to, they all had stepped up and tried a little harder. They still lost, but not as bad and most of the opposing team’s points came at the beginning and then they played really well (especially defense) the rest of the game.
